Surds
If n is a positive integer and 'a' is a positive rational number (a > 0), then is called a surd of order n or nth order surd, if
is an irrational number.
e.g.,
Types of Surds
Surds are dividing into four types.
1. Simple Surd:
A surd which consists of a single term is called s 'simple surd' or monomial surd'.
2. Mixed Surd
If a is a rational number and is a surd, then
are called 'mixed surds'.
